innoWIUT welcomed Dr. Issam Krimi, Head of Innovation and Creativity at ICESCO, for a masterclass on “Innovation as a Diplomatic Asset.” Here are the key takeaways:

Innovation is more than economic growth. Countries now use technology, research and digital platforms to build global influence. Denmark even appointed the world's first Tech Ambassador in 2017.
Build a system, not just projects. Successful innovation connects five elements: assets, narrative, channels, instruments and governance. Without coordination and clear goals, initiatives rarely create lasting impact.
Size doesn't determine success. Estonia turned digital services into global opportunities, while Switzerland built international connections through science consulates. What matters is how countries use their strengths.
Be where innovation happens. Strong partnerships grow in startup hubs, universities and technology clusters, not just government offices.
Start small, think long-term. A 90-day roadmap with clear priorities, responsible teams and measurable results can turn ideas into action.
A big thank you to Dr. Issam Krimi for sharing valuable insights on how innovation can connect countries and create global opportunities. Thanks also to ICESCO and everyone who joined us!
Big ideas know no borders. Don't miss the next innoWIUT guest lecture!
